In most cases no, there are many ways to accomplish most business process with out of the box functionalities. If that doesn’t satisfy your requirements there are also many 3rd party applications the expand the Business Central functionalities, but of course if an exact fit can’t be found Business Central can be customized to fit your exact need/s.
Will our existing reports and templates work with Business Central?
Unfortunately most report and templates will need to be converted to utilize the Business Central architecture so they will not automatically transition during the upgrade processes. However most NAV reports and templates can be converted quickly so they will not need to be completely re-built.

When is the right time to upgrade to Business Central?

What happens to my existing customizations when I upgrade from Dynamics Navision to Business Central?
